Just Wrong: Filmmakers Force Greenpeace Into Rare 'Clarification'
Cruise over to Green Inc., the environment blog of The New York Times, and you'll see something rare -- a story about Greenpeace being caught in a lie.

It all started right here two days ago, with Phelim and Ann's exclusive report on Greenpeace's recent exaggeration about the Arctic being ice-free by 2030. Pressed on that claim by BBC's Stephen Sackur, Greenpeace executive director Gerd Leipold eventually admitted, "I don't think it will be melting by 2030. ... That may have been a mistake."

The BBC interview also included a quote from Leipold admitting that Greenpeace isn't ashamed to "emotionalize issues" in order to sway public opinion.

The revelation of those statements forced Greenpeace into retreat, even as it rallied online followers for a faux grassroots campaign to rebut the story. As Green Inc. noted, "The group has now appended a clarification to the original article" with the alarmist claim about Arctic ice.

Phelim and Ann's report and the accompanying YouTube video have gone viral. Dozens of blogs, including Big Hollywood, Instapundit, Hot Air and Power Line, have linked to the story. This morning, YouTube featured the video on its Citizentube blog and called it "a fantastic watch."

The video currently has been viewed nearly 40,000 times.

You can learn more about the kind of scare tactics embraced by Greenpeace and other environmental groups in Not Evil Just Wrong, which features criticisms of environmental hysteria by one of Greenpeace's founders, Patrick Moore.

The film debuts at 8 p.m. EST on Oct. 18 in an American cinematic tea party.
