“The judge identified nine aspects of An Inconvenient Truth, nine core errors, where Al Gore either misstated the IPCC or prejudicially exaggerated what they found.” John Day is the lawyer for a British parent who sued the British Department

Hurricane Katrina Victims Sue Oil Companies for Global Warming

This has to be one of the move frivolous lawsuits I've ever seen.  According to the Pelican Institute, the case, Comer v. Murphy Oil USA, is "Essentially, landowners in Mississippi are suing oil and coal companies for rising sea levels and increased hurricane strength, claiming that the greenhouse gases they release is the cause."

This lawsuit lacks commonsense.  The city was below sea level, there were damaged levies and the city has flooded in the past.  It was tragic, but not the result of co2.  The fact that Fifth Circuit is allowing this before the court is ridiculous, and a shining example of politicking from the bench.

They are trying to set precedent
It is a way to bypass global warming debate by trying it in the federal court system and therefor setting precedent. If they win, the Govt can base policy off the decision.
