This came a few days after an armed security guard ordered McAleer to stop filming at a press conference where he was asking prominent climate alarmist Stephen Schneider questions about Climategate. I'm a programmer and while my formal focus isn't statistics, I do have a decades-long background in data processing. The output of any computer model is only as good as its input (hence the term GIGO), and it's clear reading through Harry's notes that his data is incomplete and at times even contradictory, and that his decisions -- especially the ones where the data was least complete -- were based perhaps not on outright fraud but certainly on expediency. Data this bad would never make past the simplest of audits in any business. The fact that the foundational data is so suspect seriously diminishes the integrity of the models, and thus the IPCC conclusions. And since the IPCC conclusions form the basis for so much of the rest of the AGW argument, the poor state of this data ought to receive a lot more airplay. |
