Millard Public Schools in Nebraska announced they are pulling Laurie David's book, "The Down-to-Earth Guide to Global Warming," from classes. This is after it was revealed that the book included a temperature graph containing factual errors. The book will be reinstated into the nonfiction program, but only after the use of the graph is removed.
Three parents, including the wife of U.S. Rep. Lee Terry of Nebraska, called for the removal of the book after it depicted Global Warming as fact, while many scientists disagree.
The accompanying video, narrated by Leonardo DiCaprio, will be removed from the course entirely. In the video DiCaprio says Global Warming is happening because of mankind’s "destructive addiction" to oil. Terry called the video a "political commercial."
The parents were pleased with the school district's response to parent's concerns.
We're pleased too. Not Evil Just Wrong wants a balanced education about Global Warming, and wishes that Gore would also take these steps toward correcting the errors in his documentary. It is why we've joined the Independent Women's Forum to launch a Balanced Education for Everyone, which combats the one-sided climate education found in many schools today.
