The last thing most people would expect at a Climate Debate in Hollywood, is for a balanced crowd which displayed healthy skepticism towards warm-mongering.
Even more surprising was an SNL cast member moderating fairly and asking thoughtful questions about both sides of the climate debate.
Yet this was what Lexus was able to arrange at an event dubbed The Darker Side of Green, which promoted their new Lexus CT 200h. The event was held in West Hollywood and was moderated by SNL's Andy Samberg. It had attendees ranging from Ashton Kutcher to Kristen Bell (When in Rome) to Jeremy Piven (Entourage), Sophia Bush (One Tree Hill), Dax Shepad (When in Rome), Adrien Brody (The Pianist) and Mark McGrath from the band Sugar Ray. A huge number of people who seemed to appreciate an honest debate about this important issue. Almost 1000 people had to be turned away as the debate was hopelessly oversubscribed. Speaking about the event Ms. Bell proved balance is coming to Hollywood, giving a more rational about the environment than most of the IPCC lead authors. She said this in her interview:
The crowd was incredibly balanced for Hollywood. There seemed to be just as many people who responded to skeptics arguments as there were for the other side.
One question that struck a cord with the audience was to help how to help the poverty stricken. Phelim asked that we give developing countries access to fossil fuels, to let them develop factories, hospitals, and proper housing.
This was a contradiction to Simran Sethi's plan of living a greener life on less. The full debate will be online shortly. We will let you know when it is available.
